To alleviate some of the stressors caused by the pandemic, we wanted to give our most vulnerable community members a comfort they can rely on. What better comfort than your favorite rice dish?
Our operation began with free hot coffee and cup noodles when NY PAUSE first took effect. As the COVID-19 crisis exacerbates issues surrounding homelessness and financial insecurity, we aim to serve our communities with dignity and compassion. As manager Patrick Mock told NBC News, "In a pandemic... you've got to step up a little more and if I need to do that right now, this is what I need to do." Today, we feed hundreds of people on a daily basis through our storefront donations, doorstep deliveries, and midnight meals for the incredible medical staff at Mt. Sinai Medical Center.
"I love the meals I get every week. They always deliver wearing masks and gloves, so I feel very comfortable with them. With all my doctor’s appointments, I’m grateful for a meal I don’t need to worry about." - Jadey Lee
Led by manager Patrick Mock, our volunteer team of tried-and-true New Yorkers are tackling hunger head on to feed communities in need.
